大概是壓力大,
最近一直想吃甜的!

吃著從布拉格帶回來的stollen 蛋糕,
喝著Irish Cream 口味的奶茶,

從東(?)歐自助旅行回來囉!

其他同學已經開始面試 找工作了
我連履歷表都沒寫
更別提找工作了

之前的擔心都是多餘的
只有剛到的前幾天不太習慣

達文西密碼中最後提到的Holy Grail 的地方
Rosslyn Chapel!!!

要回台灣了

喝著大吉嶺的茶
(是我最愛的紅茶類喔!)

打電話給老媽
有一搭沒一搭地聊著
媽媽說她開始學二胡囉
只是手指都硬了
她今天在後院做了一天的工
腰酸背痛…..
問老媽在後院做什麼ㄚ
(可以想像老媽在後院garden 小臭皮在旁邊搗蛋的情形)
(老媽澆花時 小皮就會跑過去 咬著水管/horse, “洗牙”)
老媽說 她把豆子都種下去了 我不是愛吃豆子嗎
這樣夏天我回去時就有豆子吃囉
……感動……….
(我回去還不知道是什麼時候的事 老媽就把豆子種下去了)

ㄚ比 had a bad week and so did I.


我週一週二時心情低落到整天都躲在flat
但比起ㄚ比 我的壞心情是自找的
我難過到打電話回家 在電話裡哭了起來
真不好意思 還害爸媽擔心……
(好像把自己講得很愛哭似的 其實大部分的時候我都很堅強)

ㄚ比的沮喪 is not her fault at all!!! And there is not much she can do to improve the situation…
所以決定烤個蛋糕送她 to cheer her up.
白巧克力蘋果蛋糕
上面在灑上一堆芭比亮片 有粉紅色白色綠色的小星星
和紫色粉紅色的糖粒
光看到心情就好起來了

下午 我很累 連有氧舞蹈都跳不動
躺到桑拿裡 超棒的 只有我一個人
晚上去看Devil wears Prada (a very girly movie, but suits my need just fine)…
不用大腦的電影

Saturday 美麗的早晨去farmers’ market
買了現做的麵包 和臘腸
然後去Café Nero 聊天….
下午在瞌睡與黑咖啡間奮鬥
晚上幫老師baby sit
兩個小孩超有禮貌的
他們有兩隻天竺鼠
兩個小孩眼睛睜得大大的 當我提議說把天竺鼠放出來玩
我老師大概會直接叫我不用畢業 如果我把老鼠放到她家客廳玩
跟小孩講話 我要特別注意我的英文
不可以帶壞小孩 有些詞不能用 害我一下子變得優雅起來

外國小孩很早就歸定要上床睡覺
如果睡不著可以在床上看書
小弟弟的書很多 虎父無犬子
玩的玩具更是先進 才十一歲 搖控車就是用電腦的程式控制
看得我一頭霧水
好險他沒有請我跟他對打
我的電玩skill 還是停留在賽車

小男孩呢 就請他demonstrate 一下玩具怎麼玩
小女孩呢 就請她告訴我她的玩具熊的名字 她有一床的娃娃
所以時間一下子就過去了
週六 他們可以看一個愛看的節目
家教真的很好
看完後 送他們上床後我就下樓
哥哥還提醒妹妹要跟我說晚安和謝謝
超超超有禮貌的小孩
可以看到英國人教小孩的方式

剩下的時間我就在樓下看電視 看雜誌
等老師和先生回來後 她們竟然還付baby sitting的錢
我當然不能收啦
(I can’t make her to pay me to watch TV!!!)
最後還是叫計程車然後把錢塞給我

其實寫這一篇 是要寫有關我的新室友
新室友是德國男生喔
一向對德國人不太有好感
在他搬進來之前 我有點怕怕的
怕新室友會是個大男人
不過現在看來擔心是多餘的
很好相處的一個男生
(念人工智慧和 neuroscience)
一個flat 全是女生 要有個男生來中和一下
幫忙吃東西 或是開罐頭

我覺得我的個性是兩極化
我很喜歡女生喜歡的東西
但是做事方面比較像男生??

我蠻喜歡運動 雖然不太有coordination
如果有人帶的話 我很想嘗試室內攀岩
這個新室友好像蠻sporty 嗯…..we will see.

有時看到些感動的事情 會講給他聽 或是寫成小email

Faliraki Water Park (Rhodes, Greece)

Apart from the day of Lisa’s wedding, another highlight of the holiday was the trip to Falaraki Water Park.  I wasn’t too sure about the combination of Greek sunshine and waterslides before I went.  But it proved the trip is definitely worthwhile and we had great fun!!!

The price of ticket is 20 euros per person which covers unlimited entrance to all the slides in the park.

We took local bus from Lindos to Faliraki.  The journey is just over an hour and ticket price is 3 euros one way (bargain!)  Faliraki is well known for people to go there and get really drunk (I mean REALLY drunk).  It is definitely worthwhile to go to the water park earlier before the drunk people wake up.

非常非常的熱

One thing that puts me off is the frequent application of sun-screen and the sun-screen stings my eyes!!! (sun-screens with SPF higher than 30 is essential! Water-proof ones are more ideal!) 

We started with the easier option where everyone can have a go- the Wave Pool!

It is simply a huge swimming pool but with wave generator.

Then we went on the more scarier slides such as Black Hole, Rafting slides, and Multi slides.

別看Multi slides 不怎麼可怕 

衝下來的速度可是很驚人的

衝到水裡後  girls’ bikini曝光的曝光  蠻好笑的

另一個很可怕的是 Head first mat racer

一排六個人  趴在mat 上  head first,

剛開始不怎麼陡  到三分之一的時候 you suddenly realized you couldn’t see any more slides laying in front of you because there is a huge drop but it is too late to back out or slow down~

I let out of a big scream and performed a superb water-sliding when landed on water!

The water-sliding bit is the most fun part!

The sliding takes off the impact so you won’t hit the water too badly!

Definitely recommended.

After lunch (I must have too much sugar at this stage), I said I will go on the slide of ‘Sting Ray’!!

It looks like the rack people go skate-boarding except you sit on a ring (a sing ring or a double ring).

When I said Ya I will go, all the girls looked at me thought I must be mad!!!

So I went with one of the guys (Adam)on a double ring.

非常非常的可怕

The instructor told me to sit at the front (i.e. back is facing the way going down).

後來Adam 說那時我是一臉驚嚇

Before I had a chance to back off, the instructor had kicked the ring and off we went.

我是嚇到用手摀住嘴巴

這個動作嚇到adam  他非常好心地提醒我小姐妳的手最好抓緊 the ring!!!

不然我可能就不知道飛到哪邊了

大概有三秒鐘 我是嚇到叫不出來

因為 we were in free fall and had no contact with any surface!!

背朝後往後掉下去的感覺很可怕

直到著地後 I let out a terrified scream!

Then the rest of the slide is actually quite pleasant.

We swing and swing before we landed on water.

爬出pool 時 我還在抖.

I was trying to persuade other girls to give a go but I don’t think I will have the guts to try it again!

But it is definitely fun!!!!

曬了一天  曬的非常的黑

隔天起來全身腰酸背痛…………..

博士快念完了

(雖然離交論文還有一段距離)

不知道何去何從

原本以為二月份可以回nz

and spend the rest of my life in NZ…

Life is never as simple as we want it to be…

接下來不知道要做什麼 不知道要去哪裡

Do I want to do a postdoc??

Which area should I specialize in??

禮拜五實驗室整棟樓要烤肉

這可是件大事呢

尤其是對寫論文寫到要抓狂的瑛來講

這邊的烤肉和台灣一點都不一樣

台灣是大家一起烤 一邊烤一邊吃

這裡呢  烤肉絕對是男生的工作啦

烤些什麼呢

一定有漢堡肉  和sausages

可能會有雞腿

和串成一串的蔬菜

瑛被 ‘自願’ 準備一道沙拉
ㄟ  我是學生耶 應該是那些媽媽們準備吧

沒關係  我想好要弄什麼了

我是出了名愛喝cider!(蘋果酒)

這個好東西紐西蘭沒有

算是英國的特色吧

可是同事大部分都不愛

因為cider 是undergraduate 學生在喝的

他們以前喝太多了  醉到怕了

聞到cider 就會想到以前學生時代醉到不省人事的經驗

cider 很容易醉

因為它有氣泡  喝起來酸酸甜甜的

今天中午 大家在糗我 

因為Friday 有西班牙同事說要準備 五公升的sangria

問我要準備什麼

輸人不輸陣

我要準備Snake Bite Black!!!

這個東西大概只有住過蘇格蘭的人才知道

英格蘭的同事是沒有概念的

上次跟ㄚ比一堆女生出去的時候呢

起鬨要喝這個  這是瑛第一次聽到這個東西

結果我只被准喝一小口

因為 哈哈  我是出了名的量淺

我們跑了好多家pub 才喝到呢

因為很多pub 一聽到 what we wanted to order,

they refused to serve this particular drink at the pub.

Well, it is known for people to drink and to get drunk.

結果到底是什麼呢

是一半cider 加一半lager

然後再加一點點black current juice.

說這樣  好像我是酒鬼  我是享受氣份的啦

放心 我真的真的很有節制的

我覺得我自己有點煮飯的小聰明耶

昨晚和ㄚ比去看Tattoo前  請ㄚ比到我那小宿舍吃晚餐

Note. 此tattoo 不是刺青的tattoo. 我要多點篇幅好好介紹一下, i.e. next time.

原本要做韓國炒年糕  後來顧慮到晚上要玩得蠻晚的 怕吃太辣會不舒服

改成西式的  大受歡迎

Salad dressing 是以橄欖油為底自製的dressing

1^st main: grilled Scottish salmon,

配上 al dente ‘Tagliatelle Con I Funghi’

加上大量的fresh parsley to garnish

2ns main: 培根雞胸肉卷

Dessert: 這個我就偷懶了  只用現成 ice-cream

Wine 是 chilled澳洲的 Rosè

兩個人一瓶酒  一頓舒服的晚餐 

兩個白痴帶著爆笑的帽子出去玩
